Having learnt both Eastern and Western painting techniques, and exposed to Fauvism and Post-impressionism, Liu Kang one of the artists commonly associated with the development of a distinctive 'Nanyang style' in art, driven by a desire to develop his artistic styles and tecniques to best capture his new surroundings in tropical Southeast Asia.
